While I did not own more than my bunk and my books, I was happy. I now have nine hens and a rooster, and my soul is troubled.

The property has made me cruel. Whenever I was buying a chicken I would tie it two days to a tree, to give it a home, destroying its fragile memory love to her former residence. I patched the fence of my yard, in order to prevent evasion of my birds, and the invasion of four and two feet foxes. I isolated myself, I fortify the border, I drew a diabolical line between my neighbor and me. I divided humanity into two categories; I own my chickens, and others who could take them off. I defined the crime. The world is full of suspected thieves for me, and for the first time jumped to the other side of the fence a hostile look.

My cock was too young. The cock of the neighbor jumped the fence and began to court my chickens and embitter the existence of my cock. I threw rocks in the intruder, but it jumped the fence and laid egg in the neighboring house. I claimed my neighbor eggs and abhorred me. Since then I saw his face on the fence, inquisitorial and hostile, identical to mine. His chickens passed the fence, and devoured the wet corn that I enshrining to mine. Chickens seemed alien criminals. I chased them, and blinded by rage I killed one. The neighbor attributed great importance to the attack. He refused to accept financial compensation. He severely pulled the body of the chicken from him, and instead of eating it, showed it to his friends, which began circulating around town the legend of my imperialist brutality. I had to reinforce the siege, increase alertness, elevate, in a word, my war budget. The neighbor has a dog decided to do everything; I think to buy a revolver.

Where is my old tranquility? I am poisoned by mistrust and hatred. The evil spirit has taken over me. Before I was a man. I am now an owner ...
