Hijacking top comment to do away with the absolute hatred towards the word 'democracy':

Representative democracy is bullshit. Majory voting is bullshit. But there are democratic solutions that are fucking optimal; direct consensus democracy in combination with anarchist syndicalism is beautiful, in my humble opinion.

You can't have a people's rule without democracy.

What i mean by that isn't a "peoples party" or some similar iron fist in a velvet glove. Anarchism is supposed to allow people, workplaces, unions and so on to take decisions together, with every born person on this earth having as much weight as the next.

Sorry if it came off as something else.

That's not democracy though; making decisions together. Democracy is a form of power a majority brandishes to control a minority. They're not 'together', it's a majority group pitted against a minority group that stands no chance in the face of the majority's legitimized power. Once you accept democracy, you've accepted the authority of the majority.

Democracy is a category, with multiple branches. You can't denounce democracy as a whole, it's the very basis if comming to agreements in common. Direct consensus democracy is the basis of anarchism, and it's a branch of democracy.

Sure, representative democracy is bullshit, but democracy as a whole should not be shunned.

Um, yes I can.

it's the very basis if comming to agreements in common

But I don't want my decisions to be decided by other people.

Direct consensus democracy is the basis of anarchism

No it isn't. It's the basis of direct consensus democracy.

I explained some of the problems with consensus democracy in the wiki:

w/democracy

Another thing about consensus democracy is it assumes the majority group won't bully the minority group into folding to their will. It ignores the basic reality that some people will aggressively force their will on others.

Like if someone on raddle were proposing the word 'cracker' be banned because they consider it a racist slur to WASPS, I sure as hell wouldn't want to engage in direct consensus democracy with them to decide that matter. I'd just tell them to fuck off.

Consensus democracy is like that shitty meme with the smug guy sitting at the booth with the "change my mind" sign.

Why should anyone be put in a situation where they're forced to expend all their energy to change some shiteater's mind? Just do your own thing and don't worry about people that don't want to participate in what you're doing. If people have fundamental disagreements, then they don't need to cooperate. It's not the end of the world.
