The vast majority of people clearly reject freedom in favor of servitude to wealthy rulers.

For 100 years, we've gotten so close to achieving anarchism, only to watch every effort be sabotaged by the majority.

In Spain the tankies sold us out to the fascists because they couldn't stand to see a world without a state and would even accept a fascist state over anarchy.

In Russia, the revolution instantly led to the people handing the power to yet another set of hungry dictators that wanted to crush all dissent (and kill every anarchist that dared question their power).

In Greece more recently, a catastrophic failure of neoliberalism led to uprising, the overthrowing of the old parties, and then led to the people putting all their trust in Syriza - who instantly stabbed them in the back and moved even further towards austerity and neoliberalism, selling Greece to foreign interests piece by piece.

The problem is obvious - humanity is not evolved enough to deserve anarchism. After every revolution is fought, we turn around and install new rulers to lord over us. The majority of humanity doesn't want freedom. We shoot ourselves in the foot every single time because we'd rather not give up the possibility of maybe becoming VIPs one day and having more than our neighbors.

So how does anarchism happen if the vast majority of the populace don't want it and would rather gamble with capitalism?

The issue is a psychological one. Why do humans destroy the sea, land and air for temporary profit, fucking over future generations? Why do we love being ruled over by disgustingly rich people in golden crowns? Why do sick poor people vote for a billionaire that promises he will take away their healthcare and deport them? There's nothing logical about anything we do.

Edward Bernays has a lot to do with our ignorance, he perfected corporate/state propaganda, manipulating us en masse into going against our own interests and instead doing the will of the rich. But very few people in the West are ever going to care enough to educate themselves to overcome their brainwashing. They're just too addicted to oppression - both receiving it and giving it.

I don't know what the answer is, but the only way we can ever be free is if humanity collectively evolves past the desire to be shackled.
