They claim to be staunchly anti- ideology, but they're SO ideological. They'll jump through all kinds of asinine hoops to avoid contradicting their idol's dogma e.g. "I'm not veg because of morality! It's because I don't want to hurt animals!" And "I'm not left or right, actually..." It's so ridiculous. You're leftists, just admit it.

I'm skeptical of egoism as a whole but I don't think that egoists are ideological if they're even vaguely good at being egoists. Loads of them seem to put Stirner way too high on a pedestal though. I see similar with anarchists putting (so far as I'm concerned, irrelevant) dead old white guys on a pedestal, and I have a problem with that too. I think it's part of a marxian state-thought / hierarchical perspective that makes people wanna point to individuals as loci of value.

I think it's pretty useful to reframe your entire ideological-perceptual terrain away from habitually drawing from reified moral laws towards more contextualised experience.

Also, I think leftism has a lot of baggage that it makes sense to be skeptical of, so dis-identifying from it, especially if you are living differently from the image of leftism, doesn't seem like a bad thing.
