In the week or so they had an account they brought up the topic of adult men dating very young woman several times, I guess in an attempt to stir up some controversy, and it worked.

EDIT: I've said all I'm going to say about this here.

Okay thanks. Promoting kiddie sex is a big, irrefutable no-go. But are there backlogs being kept of the offensive content they posted or that was removed as well?

I enjoyed their brief presence on the instance. I didn't see any of those posts so I don't know how bad or how frequent it was. But would they be let back in if they agreed to not dwell on that particular topic?

I'd prefer to have this conversation on the instance, but I'll respond for anyone reading this.

The short answer is no. Mastodon is free and open source, and generally an open platform. Nothing is stopping them from self-hosting by following one of the many beginner friendly guides (A great example can be found here https://n00q.net/articles/guide-mastodon-hometown/), or paying someone else to run a server somewhere.

I have compromised with, or given warnings to users about comparable behavior in the past, but they were users who had been around for a while and had contributed meaningfully to the spirit of the instance. I'm under no obligation to take on the stress and headache of politicking and playing mediator with other instances and users (this is an unfortunate aspect of the design and culture of Mastodon, but it's the reality of the platform). I have also stood up for people before, but I have no interest in taking on that stress just so that people can debate about who was right or wrong to fuck. So long answer is also no.

Okay, that's gonna require a bit more context cuz I'm under the impression that she said some icky things.

That's the extent of it. I guess there's drama elsewhere, but this isn't that.
