Typing this from a country where drinkable water, central heating (or cooling), and internet are all getting harder and harder to come by.... I wouldn't put it all on anarchism to be the primary risk to these "basic comforts" ! ... The current whatever the fuck system you call this can probably handle it just fine !

I like your elaboration -- reconsidering "advances" makes sense for sure. I was just worried that your argument would be fuel for the classic "anarchism is chaos and destruction" fire.

I'm not in Canada anymore actually! Moved to a fine destination in the middle east where my dad's family is from.

But I will say, in Canada theres over 30 (last I checked) first nation reserves with water advisories (whiiich essentially means no clean drinking water). Still, I'd say your last point stands!!

You need air conditioning in Canada O.o

Depending on where they live it's actually quite likely like if you don't live near a body of water and don't have a basement things can become problematically hot even without climate change. I can't speak for Canada but in the Midwest of the US where I lived currently most years there are plenty of days where it's deadly cold and deadly hot.

Most of this is that due to home design there is little method to regulate temperature above ground besides ac. You can u fans sometimes but in a lot of cases it just won't cut it.

I would imagine that without ac the carrying capacity of the world would drop a lot because just so much of the us would make apartments deadly without ac. Plus many disabled people especially old people get way less tolerant of heat.

I mean there are theoretically solutions to fix it but it would require quite a bit of resign if it is possible without industry.

"Anarchism is a leap of faith and that's frightening. In fact, we know very well that if we were to ever do it then even the most basic comforts of 21st century life -- like readily available drinkable water, central heating and internet -- might not exist."

What??

I think the opposite is true, especially if you live in a country that has been blessed with slums that are shitty (literally) by imperialism.

anarchism is when u be UWU nice

-kropotkin

But like generally many traditional ancom anarchists find empathy and compassion to be a key part of their anarchism and making sure everyone needs are met. So like on the top of my head I can actually think of thought slime as a anarchist figure who holds this position.

I don't know of them every advocating for the police. Prob closest thing to anarcho cops is cop watch which is still different. I don't know of them advocating for a system or policing and definitely not a system of prisons.
