Topic of the Week - Years ago, Anarchy: A Journal of Desire Armed (AJODA) used to have a column called “Embarrassments of the anarchist milieu” where they would choose a specific text or event and share the story, perhaps even write a little about why it’s a total embarrassment. The column provided many lighthearted laughs and a ripe source of drama in the days before the anarchist Internet really got a foothold on the topic. This week we’re chatting about your favorite embarrassments to the anarchist space and the larger ideas surrounding it all.

What are your favorite (least favorite) embarrassments to the anarchist movement? What do these embarrassments tell us about anarchism? How do anarchists effectively critique such things, if at all?

What is the story behind that very interesting picture?

The meme format is from when Ivanka posed with a can of beans after the CEO of Goya Foods endorsed Trump.

(EDIT: reworded to avoid inadvertent slur)

Context makes this fairly passable, but calling Latinos bean (or beaner) in the US is a slur. It's mostly meant for Mexicans but other Latinx folks catch stray hate bullets over it.

Thanks for letting me know, I've fixed the wording.
