Oppose, the featured subs are designed to have better quality control than smaller subs and they're designated as the 'official' sub for their subject matter. Without them, there would be a lot of brand confusion and subscribers would be spread out across multiple subs with similar names.

Ideally, there no content bad enough to not be in the frontpage. If this change, I see two solutions

Allow admins to remove threads from the frontpage (doesn't remove the thread, simply hides in from the frontpage).
Have a list of subs that can't reach frontpage (like reddit does with /r/popular)
