Sad, but true. Google is absolutely everywhere. If you really mean it, you can avoid it. It will take away convenience, but to a very few of us this won't be a problem. The issue here is too serious to be taken lightly.

I'd suggest using StreetComplete on your phone, it'll show you small edits needed around you, and makes them easy.

Boycotting Google is easy. Android phones are fine, just install CyanogenMod or Paranoid Android. Remove Google Services Framework and install MicroG. Run a decent adblocker (ublock origin). If you see their public wifi, use a VPN. I need to get into more detail in a post.

I'd like to interject for a moment. What you refer to as CyanogenMod has changed to LineageOS after the project had been shutdown, in case you didn't know :D It's now maintained by some of the old people from CM. It's quite active really. My 2016 phone keeps getting new nightly builds all the time.

Google is really hard to avoid, believe me. The consumer end services are easy enough to never use, but so many website use Google APIs or reCaptcha.

But I think it's worth it to divest yourself as much as possible. Capitalism is bad enough, but having one company with so much control is positively dystopian.
