Hi,

I've just joined, and read through the faq/wiki/etc, so i figured it's time to ask some questions.

first of all: what brought you here? And what keeps you here? What makes this place different than all the other internet homes, for you?

second of all: what should I be aware of, or I guess, what would you have liked to know sooner when you joined?

third of all: please recommend me an album to listen to… which isn't a question, so… recommend me an album plz?

  1. I'm privacy-conscious, and this is a no-platform-for-fascists place

  2. add /comments to raddle.me or onion address bar for a list of all the latest comments
    also there's an onion address
also you can get a long way in this site so long as you're genuine

  3. kind of an album; Burning Cop Car #10

Neato, the comments thing looks like an interesting way to see recent discussions happening!

  1. I wanted to have someone to discuss things that mattered to me with, since very few people close to me gives half a crap about anything besides their economy and the latest season of Paradise Hotel.

  2. Just be honest and genuine, instead of trying to please people and earn upvotes, as is the usual culture on Reddit.

  3. Evil Empire by Rage against the Machine. My favorite track on the album is Year of tha Boomerang or Bulls on Parade (suppose you've already heard this one before).

Thank you! I've listened some to RatM but not a ton, so I'll have to give that album a go.

(also I've never heard of Paradise Hotel so it's kind of ironic being made aware of its existence in this context lol)

  1. I heard reddit was going down the censorship route (officially this time) so I went looking for alternatives, and here I am. It's only been a few minutes so I'm not really super familiar with this place.
  2. Karma (or the vote system) is pointless, don't chase karma and just be who you are.
  3. Deep Forest - World Mix.

Thanks, I'll give that a listen!

I do like that there's not really an emphasis on points, etc, as far as I've seen.

  1. I was swapping to FOSS, and found this whilst searching through resources.

  2. The forum takes a strong stance against americentrism or eurocentrism.

  3. Frankenchrist

Hm, how is the anti-centrisms done in practice?

Got sick of sharing spaces with fascists, wanted something more comfortable.

Pat the Bunny's Probably Nothing, Possibly Everything really speaks to me on a personal level.

Good one, probably gotta go with Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of Your Fist though. Love for others is probably the only thing keeping me from throwing my life away for something stupid.

  1. Came for a reddit alternative after consecutive changes leading to a possible social media direction. So far, this place seems to scratch my itch.
  2. Not sure, I'm still getting to know the place just like you.
  3. Been listening to Marble Mouth, by Pillar Point. Linked to my favorite song of the album.

Thanks, I'll listen to the whole album! Are there any worries for you that this is too much in the other direction? i.e. too politically motivated etc, so won't be able to fill in the 'i want to waste some time' aspect of reddit?

  1. It's just another place I can spam with my stuff

  2. People are sometimes mean and type questionable things, don't take it to heart.

  3. American Spring is a decent starting point :P

looks like a neat resource, thanks! as for the 'not taking it to heart', i've thankfully learned to do that quite a while ago. if anyone fixes that issue they'd be crowned emperor of the world instantly i think

Reddit has always been a raging dumpster fire but there were few alternatives. I like anything that builds the radical community.

I strongly recommend this album by classic anarchist band Chumbawamba, it's super chill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRO2EwaZNhs

Esp. When Alexander Met Emma, about Alexander Berkman meeting Emma Goldman
