Interstellar, Arrival (less so?)

I think it also depends how good at memorization you are. Some people can perhaps memorize a film's key themes watching it once.

I also find some films take years to understand. It isn't just a matter of watching it repeat times, but a kind of digestion and experience.

Interstellar and Inception. Memento too maybe. Nolan loves to keep viewers on their feet.

To name a few directors that have not yet been named: Films by Tarkovsky, Terence Malick and David Lynch. But I guess you could say that one might never fully understand them, because, like 2001 they try to touch something beyond comprehension.

Tees Maar Khan... it’s an indian movie that is a satire of indians movies, but in the first watch you will think it’s just a normal Bollywood movie.
